Case for LH bell keyed tenor

Friends and neighbors:
Can I get some suggestions for a good quality case for a tenor with left hand bell keys?

I've had luck with most modern cases... no issues going from my RH bell keyed horns (VI, CB Vintage) to my LH bell key horns (Martin, Conn). I've used the Protec (regular sized, non-XL), Gator GL (great for the money... super light... but not as protective as some), and Walt Johnson. Only horn that has problems fitting in any of these is a Buesher 400... but the bell on those is huge. Nonetheless, with some persuasion it'll fit in the Gator, but not really the others without causing concern of bending the lip.

The foam lining on most modern cases is pretty flexible and should present no real problems. On the 400, the big bow is the problem.

Steve:
Will the Saxgourmet cases fit LH bell key and split bell key horns?

I feel it is important to have a SNUG fitting case, especially if you play non-rib construction sax like most L.H. bell saxes are. You really do not want your precious sax banging around inside of a loose case, at least not if you like to keep it well regulated. When a case gets old the padding often crushes down and you have a very loose fit. On the other hand, a case that is too tight will cause all kinds of problems with bell alignment and broken key guard (solders). This can be a special problem with LH Bell saxes because they ofter do not fit right with some cases because of the key guard. Some of those saxes are a tad wider. You really need to place your sax in different cases for proper fitting. Protect makes an "XL" case, but they are really for Keilwerth & the old German Conn's (and the famous Top Hat Cane). But it might be too big for your sax. In your situation, you will have to take a little extra care in picking the right case for your sax. Fit will be priority over style. I hope that helps.
