Rheuben Allen Sax

I was looking for a "back-up" alto & was hooked up to a source for a Rheuben Allen model. First, they are GREAT people to deal with! The build quality is amazingly good. The ergonomics are well thought out & the tone is rich & full. There was no hype about the horn...just the promise it would play well...and it does!

Tom.
I couldn't agree with you more about the great build quality of these horns. I bought one for my nephew and have really been impressed with how much bang for the buck you get with Rheuben's saxes. They have a really solid feel that you just don't find in that price range. It's a great alternative to Yamaha, Antigua, Jupiter, and the other common beginner horns.

These are very well made horns at an attractive price. Rheuben has been in the business since right after the Earth cooled, and knows what he is doing.

I don't own a RA horn, but I did get to play several late last year when I was visiting family in southern California. They have a certain feel about them that has to be experienced rather than described. I don't know how Rheuben did it, but the horn is the most solid feeling in my experience. It really feels precise, everything right where it ought to be.

The sound and response are first class, a little darker than a Yamaha, and equally in tune. It will hold its own with anything out there at twice the price. If you're on a budget or looking for a beginner horn for a kid, this might just be the one.

Sharon and I are considering adding the Rheuben Allen horns to our offerings since we don't manufacture anything at that price point and like these horns VERY much.....we are also considering an inexpensive line of horns for students, in the less than $700 range....we've found a horn we like very much which outplays anything else at that price point.......
