Lacuer tints

Gold tinted lacquer is common. Is it possible to add other color tints, such as blue or green and still have the lacquer transparent?

I've seen a couple of different tints used, but nothing wild like blue. Green, red, and brown, yes. Blue, no.

I know that some of the colors used on the mirror type finishes used on some Asian horns are really CA glue based, no lacquer.
